The first step for most new security guards is the 8-Hour Pre-Assignment Training Course. After completing the course, you receive a certificate that is used as part of the security guard registration process.
The 16-Hour OJT course is completed after employment as a security guard and must be completed within 90 days of employment. The course is relevant to the duties of the guard, the worksite, and employer requirements.
The 8-Hour Pre-Assignment Training is the initial course required for most new security guard applicants. The 16-Hour On-The-Job Training is a separate course that is completed after employment and focuses on duties related to the job and worksite.
